What is ADHD?
Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neuropsychological disorder that causes difficulty with sustaining attention (Predominantly Inattentive Type), hyperactivity and impulsiveness (Predominantly Hyperactive Type), or a combination of inattention and hyperactivity (Combined Type). Symptoms of ADHD can have debilitating effects on scholastic/work performance, interpersonal relationships, and self-esteem.

Why get tested?
As ADHD was historically considered a problem limited to childhood, estimates suggest that more than 80% of adults with ADHD are undiagnosed or untreated (Ginsberg et al., 2014). In reality, the prevalence of ADHD in adults is 2.5-5% (Song et al., 2020). If you are experiencing problems related to inattention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity, an ADHD diagnosis will help to clarify treatment needs and receive necessary accommodations at work or school.

Treatment options
-Medication: The scientific literature provides the strongest support for psychostimulant medication in treating ADHD. We will work with your existing psychiatrist or connect you to another ADHD specialist to manage your medication needs.
-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT for ADHD provides clients with skills to sustain attention, build motivation, improve organization, and overcome negative thinking. Studies show that clients with ADHD who receive CBT in addition to medication, realize stronger treatment outcomes than clients who receive medication alone.
