Dr. Jonathan Westman (he/his)
I am a licensed psychologist (PSY 33816) and the co-founder of Cypress Mental Health. I have expertise in using evidence-based treatments (e.g., CBT, ACT, mindfulness) to help individuals experiencing a variety of psychological concerns and my specialties are ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD, sleep issues, and trauma. I apply a holistic approach wherein each client’s cultural identity and lived experiences are valued throughout treatment.
I received my B.A. from Cornell University before completing my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at UCLA. As a graduate student, I provided individual and group therapy to adults at the UCLA Psychology Clinic, the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, and the UCLA Psychosis Clinic. I completed my APA-accredited internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the West Los Angeles Veteran Affairs (VA) Medical Center where I received specialized training in treatment of sleep disorders, as well as use of mindfulness-based interventions. Most recently, I worked as a staff psychologist for Cognitive Behavior Associates, a private practice in Beverly Hills, CA.
My research focuses on supervision of therapists applying evidence-based practices. I have also published and presented in the field of substance use. I am currently a Lecturer in the UCLA Psychology Department.
My Approach
I work hard to create a trusting therapeutic environment through thoughtfulness, collaboration, and compassion. I believe in helping clients embrace their inner strength, regain balance, and emerge stronger.
